Annual Report

The purpose of the Annual Report is to give families, schools, and the community a greater understanding of how and why the centralized enrollment system was developed, how it works, and whether or not it is succeeding in its goal of creating a fair, transparent, and equitable enrollment process driven by family choice.

February 2016 Annual Report

Appendix 3 of the February 2016 Annual Report displays individual school demand data for all OneApp participating schools. EnrollNOLA is hopeful that this information will help families and the community understand how school demand impacts student placements. This, in conjunction with Appendix 2 (“Application Outcomes,” see Annual Report page 16), can help families determine how many schools to list on their application.

Main Round Summary

The OneApp Main Round application cycle is the primary application cycle for students who are new to the New Orleans, seeking to transfer schools, or entering school for the first time. Whenever possible, applying students should participate in the Main Round, as this is when schools have the most available seats, and students therefore have the greatest likelihood of being assigned to one of their school choices. The majority of New Orleans public schools (89% as of 2015-2016 application cycle) participate in the centralized enrollment process.

The annual Main Round Summary reports key information on the results of the OneApp Main Round application cycle. EnrollNOLA is hopeful that these statistics can help families, schools, and community members better understand how student enrollment plays out on a citywide level. Families can also use this information to make informed application decisions. Key statistics such as school demand data, match rate relative to number of application choices, and priority information, may help families determine the best way to fill out their application in order to be assigned to a school that meets their family’s needs.

One key takeaway for applying students who do not currently have a school assignment, is that it is best to apply to a full range of choices (up to 8 schools), as listing more choices increases the chances of being assigned, and does not decrease the likelihood of being assigned to a top choice.
