If your child is currently attending a New Orleans public school and you are interested in transferring them to a new school next year, the OneApp Main Round application for the 2018 – 2019 School Year is open November 1 – February 23. Click here to apply.
To transfer schools during the school year after October 1, students must qualify for a Hardship Transfer. If you would like to understand whether your child qualifies for a Hardship Transfer, please consult with school leadership at your child’s current school. If you have general questions about how Hardship Transfers work and what qualifies, please see our policy here.
If you are new to New Orleans or new to public schools, and are seeking to enroll your child for the current school year, we welcome you and your family. New Orleans has a unique public school choice system, where families may attend a school of their choice, regardless of where they live, based on seat availability at the time of enrollment. Mid-year placements are first-come, first-served.
You can visit any of our three Family Resource Centers. At the Family Resource Center, your family will speak with a dedicated School Choice Advisor about the school options available in your child’s grade. When selecting from available schools, remember to ask our School Choice Advisors about transportation, school activities, and any other factors that may be important for you and your child.
