OPEN ENROLLMENT

EARLY CHILDHOOD OPEN ENROLLMENT

Open Enrollment is the late enrollment process for Early Childhood families (6 weeks – 4 years old) who are new to the city, new to public schools, or wish to transfer to a new school for the 2020-21 school year. 

Updated August 21: Currently, all offices for NOLA Public Schools are closed due to the impacts of the coming storm system, and processing will be delayed. 

Follow the steps below to verify your eligibility, and then manage your child’s waitlists for Early Childhood programs.

  1. Check your verification status
  2. Verify your eligibility (or skip to step 3)
  3. Manage your waitlists once you are verified

STEP 1: CHECK YOUR VERIFICATION STATUS IN THE ONEAPP PORTAL

  • Log-in to your parent portal account, oneapp.force.com
  • Click Early Childhood Infant – PK4
  • Check your verification status

STEP 2: IF YOUR CHILD IS NOT VERIFIED BEGIN THE VERIFICATION PROCESS (IF YOU’RE VERIFIED PLEASE SKIP TO STEP 3)

  • Log-in to oneapp.force.com
  • Click Early Childhood Infant – PK4
  • Click “Check Eligibility” next to your child’s name
  • Complete the eligibility check with the most accurate information.
  • Once you have completed this step, you will receive an email within 72 hours that will include next steps. You should begin gathering the documents below which may be needed:
    • Parent/Guardian Photo ID
    • Birth Certificate
    • Proof of Residency
    • Proof of Income
    • See detailed list of acceptable documents here
  • If you are determined eligible, you will be directed to your parent portal account to manage your waitlists, if we are unable to determine your eligibility we will contact you with next steps.

STEP 3: IF YOUR CHILD IS VERIFIED AND ELIGIBLE, MANAGE YOUR WAITLISTS

You are now ready to manage your early childhood waitlists in OneApp.force.com.

  • My child is NOT assigned to a school
    • You can add yourself to/be active on a total of THREE waitlists for programs that you’re eligible for. Please note that if you change your waitlist choices, you will lose your previous waitlist position. You will be contacted if a seat becomes available.
  • My child is already assigned to a school
    • You can add yourself to/be active on ONE waitlist. Please note that if you change your waitlist choice, you will lose your previous waitlist position. You will be contacted if a seat becomes available.

LATE ENROLLMENT

K-12 LATE ENROLLMENT WILL BE VIRTUAL IN 2020.

Late Enrollment is for K-12 families who are new to the city, new to public schools, or wish to transfer to a new school for the 2020-21 school year. The Late Enrollment process will be virtual this summer.

STEPS TO PARTICIPATE IN K-12 LATE ENROLLMENT

STEP ONE: REVIEW AVAILABILITY AND SIGN UP FOR LATE ENROLLMENT

  • Complete the Late Enrollment sign up form.
    • Documents are required. The form will provide more information about what documents are required for each parent, depending on the child’s circumstances.
    • Families who have issues accessing the internet are encouraged to call (877) 343-4773 or email [email protected] and a representative will support you in collecting your documents so you can participate in Late Enrollment along with other families.

STEP TWO: WAIT TO BE CONTACTED BY THE DISTRICT

  • NOLA Public Schools staff reach out to you by phone to discuss placement options.
  • If you list schools for your children that are available, you may be notified by email that the placement is complete.
  • Expect a call or email update within 3-5 business days of your submission.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

  • The following documents may be required:
    • Parent/Guardian Photo ID
    • Child’s Birth Certificate
    • Last report card/proof of grade
    • One Proof of Residency
      • Utility bill – Electricity, cable/internet, sewerage/water bill, landline telephone
      • Mortgage/Lease agreement
      • Government Document (HANO, Section 8, Homestead Exemption, etc.)
  • What if I don’t have proof of residency documents in my name?
    • You will need to provide a signed letter from the person you and your child(ren) are living with, along with their proof of residency and a copy of their photo ID

  • What if I have problems accessing or using the Late Enrollment Form?
    • With access issues, call (877) 343-4773 or email [email protected] and a representative will support you in collecting your documents so you can participate in Late Enrollment along with other families.
    • If you have trouble with the form, call (877) 343-4773 or email [email protected] and a representative will support you.
  • What if my phone number changes after submitting the form?
    • Contact [email protected] to let them know your contact information has changed. We’ll update your record.
  • What if I miss the call I receive?
    • If you miss our call, don’t worry.  We’ll try you back later the same day, or the following day.  We’ll attempt to reach you 5 times.
  • What if I’m not the custodial parent?
    • A non-custodial parent affidavit will be requested.
  • What order will calls be made?
    • Families who submit in the first wave, between June 15th and June 22nd will be contacted in a randomized order to preserve fairness. Families who submitted after June 22 will be contacted in the second wave. Dates for the second wave will be determined as soon as possible.

The Fall Transfer Window will be in effect beginning August 31, 2020.

Here is an outline of what school representatives should expect:

When parents of continuing students request a transfer through Late Enrollment, the Enrollment Point of Contact in SchoolForce will be notified by email.

  • School representatives should reach out to schedule a conference within 24 hours to discuss the transfer.
  • School representatives should update the student record to reflect that the parent has met with the school.
    • If a conference is held, please mark “Meeting Completed”
    • If the parent declines to meet with the school, please mark “Family Declined Meeting”
    • NOLA PS will follow up with the family within two business days
      • Parents who no longer wish to transfer will withdraw their requests
      • Parents who still wish to transfer will be given placement options
      • Parents who have declined to meet with the school will not receive a placement until a meeting is conducted
      • Parents will be allowed to transfer after 24 hours if the school chooses no status

Required Documents:

All applicants receiving sibling priority must provide:

  • Active government-issued documentation (ie. birth certificate) for the applicant and at least one current student of the school showing the same guardian OR

Sibling verification documents for students entering 9th through 12th grade may be dropped off at the Clark Campus, 1301 N. Derbigny St., New Orleans, LA 70116, during school hours.

Instructions to Families for Sending in Documents with Siblings Sibling verification documents may be sent to the school with a current student. The documents should be placed in an envelope addressed to Front Office, Sibling Verification.

 

Please include a note with the names of the current student and the applying student. You will also need to include a contact name and phone number and/or email address so that we can confirm with you the receipt of the documents.
