Hardship Transfers begin after October 1st for parents interested in transferring students from one OneApp participating school to another OneApp participating school.  Parents can request this transfer through April 1st , during the 2021/2022 school year.

Hardship transfers must meet outlined criteria for approval. Parents must prove that their request falls into one of the four hardship categories.

  • Medical
  • Safety
  • Childcare
  • Emergency

Parents will meet with schools  to discuss and resolve concerns prior to submitting the Hardship Transfer Request. If a resolution can not be established, the school will work with the parent to fill out the Hardship Transfer form.

Please ensure that the request has been filled completely and accompanied with supporting documentation to avoid any processing delays. Hardship Transfer Requests and Supporting documents are submitted by the school and a completed copy should be provided to the parent/ guardian at the conclusion of the conference.

Submissions must include the correct contact information for the parent/gaurdian for cases that require follow-up discussions.  Hardship Transfer decisions are made by The Transitions Team at  NOLA Public Schools.

The Fall Transfer window is for families seeking to change schools.  This process applies only to students that are enrolled in the same school this year as they were last year. These families must:

1.  Visit a Family Resource Center and notify a School Choice Advisor (SCA) of their desire to transfer. The SCA will email the school and start the transfer request process.

2. The current school will schedule a meeting to discuss the transfer request with the family. Once the meeting takes place, the school notifies the SCA  of the meeting outcome. If a parent still wishes to transfer, the SCA will be notified.

2. The family must return to the Family Resource Center to choose a school with available seats. The transfer process and registration at the new school must be completed within five school days.

Families of children K-12 who are new to the district or didn’t participate in OneApp Main Round or Round 2 will need to participate in Summer Enrollment. Starting Monday, August 16, 2021, the Summer Enrollment process for K-12 students will move to in-person only.

Families seeking infant to Pre-K 4 placements will follow the same virtual OPEN ENROLLMENT process currently in place. (See Open Enrollment info below)

Families still in need of a school may visit one of three Family Resource Centers around the city. Parents must bring ID to receive service and are reminded to bring all necessary documents needed for enrollment. Our Family Resource Centers will be open from 8:30 am- 3 pm at the following locations:
